The Atlanta Green Wedding Consortium (ATLGWC) was founded by Katie L. Martin from the event design firm Elegance & Simplicity Wedding & Event Designers, Inc.. Katie Martin has been heralded as one of the country’s leading green wedding experts and has been showcased and interviewed by The Washingtonian and several on-line eco-blogs. She is a contributing blog writer for several eco-blogs and is currently writing a book about Eco-friendly weddings. The Audubon Naturalist Society named her one of the best eco-friendly wedding planners. The intention of the ATLGWC is to help engaged couples in Atlanta find the best possible green wedding vendors in Atlanta. All vendors go through a rigorous screening process to make sure that they are actually providing true green products and services. What does that mean? It means that “green practices” needs to be more than a marketing scheme to fool brides! The vendors that are represented on this website care about the types of services they are providing and how they affect the world and local community around them (both environmentally and socially). Many of the vendors give to both local and international charities. Some give back to their communities in various ways. Some have complicated vendor supply chains that require thorough investigation and they take the time to make sure their suppliers are following strict eco-friendly guidelines either by world government guidelines or local statutes.
